From a Book to a Classroom Experience: Bringing Tech Is Magic to Life

There are moments when something shifts from being an idea… to something real.
Recently, I found myself surrounded by copies of Tech Is Magic, bookmarks, and a few small characters I’ve been using to help bring the story to life—Lumi, Rolo, and Mochi.
What started as a simple photo session quickly turned into something more.
It became a reminder that this isn’t just a book.
It’s the beginning of a world.
More Than a Book
When I created Tech Is Magic, my goal was simple:
To help kids see technology as something they can explore, question, and create—not something that feels intimidating or out of reach.
But as I’ve started sharing it more, especially with educators and schools, I’ve realized something important:
The book is just the entry point.
The real impact happens when it becomes an experience.

Meet the World of Tech Is Magic
As I’ve been developing this further, I’ve been thinking a lot about how kids connect with stories.
That’s where Lumi, Rolo, and Mochi come in.
Lumi – the storyteller, full of curiosity
Rolo – the robot who makes tech feel approachable
Mochi – the playful explorer who reminds us learning can be fun
These characters help turn concepts into something kids can see, hold, and imagine themselves inside of.

Bringing This Into Schools
What excites me most right now is bringing Tech Is Magic into classrooms and learning environments.
Not just as a book—but as a hands-on experience.
That can look like:
Read-aloud sessions paired with interactive activities
“Inventor Challenge” workshops where kids build their own ideas
Family tech nights that make learning collaborative and fun
Classroom sets with guided activities for teachers
Because when kids engage with technology early—through creativity, not pressure—it changes how they see what’s possible for themselves.

Why This Matters
We talk a lot about preparing kids for the future.
But preparation doesn’t start with complexity.
It starts with curiosity.
If a child can look at technology and think:
“I can understand this. I can build something too.”
That’s where everything begins.

What started as a book is growing into something much bigger.
A learning experience.
A creative world.
A new way to introduce kids to technology.
And I’m excited to continue bringing it into more classrooms, communities, and conversations.
