Some projects are just projects. Others are personal - rooted in legacy, pride, and purpose.

Redesigning the website for Deuces Live wasn’t just a milestone for me as a creative - it was a deep honor. This is more than a brand. It’s a living, breathing part of the culture in St. Pete. It’s the kind of project you don’t take lightly - because the story it tells matters.

The Deuces Live

What Is Deuces Live?

Located along 22nd Street South - lovingly known as “The Deuces” - Deuces Live preserves the legacy and drives the revitalization of one of St. Petersburg’s most historic Black business districts.

Once a thriving hub of commerce, culture, and community, The Deuces is being reborn as a symbol of Black excellence and entrepreneurship - and Deuces Live is at the center of that movement. They’re not just telling the story - they’re protecting it, amplifying it, and making sure it gets passed down to the next generation.

A Project With Purpose

When Deuces Live brought me in to help modernize their digital presence, I knew the work had to match the depth of the history and the boldness of the vision.

We didn’t just update a website - we created a platform that honors the past and supports the future. A place where local businesses, community members, and visitors can connect, explore, and be inspired.

My connection to The Deuces runs deeper than just design work. Over the years, I’ve visited and supported several of the restaurants along 22nd Street South - each visit left me full, not just with good food, but with pride. Being part of this project felt like coming full circle.

And the heart behind it all? Deuces Live’s CEO, a powerhouse Black woman who’s not only a leader but a personal inspiration. Her vision, dedication, and love for her community are what made this work so meaningful to me - and why I’ll always champion this movement.

The Deuces Live

Every page was built with intention:

  • A space to uplift Black-owned businesses

  • A guide for those exploring the heritage trail

  • A home for resources, opportunities, and collective progress

It was one of the biggest projects I’ve led - and one of the most meaningful.

Why It Matters

This wasn’t just about aesthetics. It was about legacy. About doing justice to a community that has always created magic, even in the face of being overlooked or erased.

Deuces Live represents resilience, pride, and progress. And now, with a new digital foundation, it can continue to grow, thrive, and inspire - not just in St. Pete, but far beyond.

Some projects hit different - not just because of the work, but because of the history, the honor, and the heart behind it.

Redesigning the website for U Salon wasn’t just another creative project for me - it was a full-circle moment. Lesia, the founder and owner, isn’t just a client. She’s family. I've known her my entire life. I’ve watched her grow her salon with purpose, integrity, and style - long before I ever called myself a creative or brand strategist.

More Than a Salon - It’s a Ministry

If you know Lesia, then you know that U Salon is more than a place to get your hair done. It’s a safe space. It’s spiritual. It’s where transformation happens inside and out. You might walk in for custom colors, silk press, or fresh cut - but you’ll leave feeling seen, cared for, and whole.

U Salon represents the kind of legacy business we don’t celebrate enough: Black-owned, woman-led, rooted in faith, and built from love.

The Website Redesign

When Lesia trusted me to bring new life to U Salon’s digital home, I didn’t take it lightly. I wanted the site to feel like her: warm, classy, grounded, and God-centered. We simplified the booking experience, elevated the visuals, and made sure the brand voice matched the in-person experience - welcoming, confident, and affirming.

Designing for someone who’s known you since you were a kid? It’s pressure - but it’s also the deepest kind of joy. I got to honor the legacy while helping shape the next chapter.

Why It Matters

This spotlight isn’t just about a salon. It’s about celebrating women like Lesia who’ve been building long before the world gave them credit. It’s about using my creative gifts to pour back into those who poured into me.

And that? That’s the real win.

Some partnerships aren’t just professional - they’re personal. That’s exactly what it’s been with T.B.A.D. Collective and its fearless founder, Shonica. From the very beginning, before the branding, before the growth, before the movement had a name - it was vision. It was purpose. It was heart. And we’ve been building together ever since.

What Makes B.A.D. So Powerful?

ree

T.B.A.D. Collective (which stands for Bold. Authentic. Dynamic.) isn’t just an organization - it’s a sacred space for Black women and femmes to rest, express, and rise. It’s rooted in healing and shaped by community, created with intentionality for those who are often left to pour from empty cups.

From hosting transformative retreats to curating affirming digital spaces, The B.A.D. Collective reminds us that rest is resistance, softness is strength, and liberation begins within.

Working with Shonica over the years, I’ve seen the vision stretch, shift, and grow - but the core has always been the same: to love on Black women deeply, honestly, and without condition.

Our Work Together

From building the website to creating visual language around T.B.A.D. experience, I’ve had the privilege of helping bring this brand to life - a brand that holds space, speaks truth, and invites softness into a world that often demands hardness.

What makes our collaboration special isn’t just the work - it’s the alignment. We believe in community care. We believe in honoring rest. We believe in building intentionally, not urgently.

We’ve cried over design drafts. We’ve voice-noted strategy ideas. We’ve grown up in this work - together.

Why I’ll Always Uplift This Work

Partnering with T.B.A.D. Collective means standing in solidarity with a movement that isn’t just changing narratives - it’s changing lives. Shonica's leadership is soft, but it's loud. It’s grounded, but it soars. And it’s been an honor to build beside her from the beginning.

✨ Tap In & Support

Whether you're new to T.B.A.D. Collective or have been following the magic, take a moment to connect:

Donate, share, or just hold space for this necessary work.

“We don’t just design brands. We nurture movements. We protect soft places. We build community — and this one is sacred.”
